Wildflower Ridge Campsite

Posted by: iwilson

Perched at 4,800 feet on the eastern slope of the Cascade Range, this secluded backcountry site offers an unobstructed panorama of the Three Sisters Wilderness. The campsite sits in a natural clearing dotted with Indian paintbrush and lupine that bloom from late June through August. A seasonal creek runs 200 yards downhill, providing fresh water during spring snowmelt. The site accommodates 2-3 tents on relatively flat ground, with natural windbreaks from scattered ponderosa pines. Morning light hits the peaks around 6:30 AM, while evenings offer spectacular alpenglow on the snow-capped summits. Popular with photographers and solitude-seekers, this primitive site requires a moderate 3.5-mile hike from the nearest trailhead off Forest Road 46. Note: No facilities. Pack out all waste. Bear canister required May-October.
